There are a number of things to keep in mind when first introducing children to baking:

  • Easy - the recipe should be easy. This is true whether your child is making brownies or homemade dog treats.

  • Few ingredients - Easy kids recipes should have only a limited number of ingredients. Children need to learn to check and double check whether they included all the ingredients in the recipe. This is so much easier for them if there are only a few ingredients.

  • Quickly done - Children have a short attention span, and fun recipes for kids are quickly completed.

  • Dramatic and impressive - Just like you, your child wants to be proud of his baked treats. Children recipes that look really cool when they are done will quickly become their favorites.

  • Appreciated - Children love to show off their work. Easy recipes for kids get compliments (or happy begging for more treats) are the best. It's much more fun when people (or dogs) beg for more!
