Ingredients for Apple Spice Dog Bones
1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
2 tablespoons dry milk
1 1/2 teaspoons dry yeast
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/3 cup applesauce
1/2 cup water, + 2 tablespoons water
1 cup white flour
1/2 cup corn meal
1/3 cup oats
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Directions for Apple Spice Homemade Dog Bones
Put all the ingredients into your bread maker in the order suggested by the manufacturers.
Set the bread maker to the dough cycle.
When the dough is done, remove it and divide it into 3 equal parts.
Roll the dough to ½” thickness for large bones and ¼” thickness for smaller bones.
Use bone shaped cookie cutters to cut the cookies.
Place the cookies/bones on a lightly greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 300 degrees F for about an hour—check to make sure that the bones don’t get too brown.
Turn off the oven and leave the dog bone treats in the oven overnight to finish drying. They will be hard and crisp when they are done.
