Directions for
Banana Bears Dog Treats Recipe

  • Place all the ingredients in your bread maker in the order that your manual suggests.

  • Use the “dough” cycle.

  • When the bell rings, remove the dough and divide it into 3 equal parts so that you will have portions that are easy to use.

  • Sprinkle flour onto a cutting board and flour your rolling pin. There are some new rolling pins that are “nonstick” and if you have one of these you won’t have to flour yours.

  • Roll each portion of dough into a circle that is ¼ inch thick.

  • Cut your bears, dipping your cookie cutter into a bowl of flour in between cuts. This will help make it easier to cut and avoid sticking.

  • If your dough is sticky, you may have to add a little flour and work it into the dough. If you were making people cookies, this would make them a bit tougher, but your dog won’t mind. Make it easy on yourself!

  • Place the dog cookies on a greased cookie sheet.

  • Cover the cookies with a clean towel.

  • Let them rise for 30-60 minutes in a warm location or until they are doubled in height. They get kind of puffy—this part is fun!

  • Bake the cookies for 1 hour at 275 degrees F. Turn off the oven and leave the cookies in the oven for several hours or overnight so they get good and hard. Taking the moisture out of them makes them keep longer and they are better for your dog’s teeth.

You should store the cookies from this dog treats recipes in an air-tight container at room temperature.
