Overweight Dogs
and Overweight Owners Lose!

Overweight dogs and their overweight owners can lose work together. Gunnar Peterson, Beverly Hills fitness guru, has a new program designed to help dogs and their people get fit together!

Just as there is an epidemic of obesity among people, there is also a growing epidemic of fat dogs. In fact, there are 53 million overweight pets in just the US alone. But, Gunnar Peterson has figured out a way to attack both problems at once!

Beverly Hills-based fitness guru, Gunnar Peterson, who has helped such well known people as Jennifer Lopez and Sylvester Stallone stay in shape, has created a series of workout videos for people to do with their overweight dogs and cats.

"It's about getting fit with your pet," said Peterson. "We're all short of time, so we combine the two."

And, if you go to Petfit.com , you'll find some free, downloadable videos, developed by Peterson, for obese pets and their owners to lose weight.

These videos make losing weight fun—for both of you! And just in case you don't need to lose weight, they are fun anyway and they can help you stay fit.

Why make the effort to lose weight?

"Just as we've become a nation of couch potatoes, we've created a nation of lap potatoes in our pets," Dr. Ernest Ward, president of the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention (APOP), recently told a group of veterinarians dedicated to reducing obesity in pets.

"Over 44 percent of dogs and 57 percent of cats are now estimated to be overweight or obese," he said, citing the latest study done by the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention.

In just the last several years, veterinarians have started to see more and more diabetes in cats and more arthritis in dogs. And both fat dogs and fat cats are having huge problems with heart disease, according to the American Veterinary Medicine Association's Dr. Gregory S. Hammer.
