- Inexperience of the owners - Some dog breeds are more difficult to care for, than others. And knowing that, before you get a dog, can prevent your having to take your dog to a pet rescue adoption agency later.
For example, Bichon Frises often end up in Bichon Frise rescues or they are put up for puppy rescue adoption--because their new owners didn’t understand how willful and independent these cute little dogs can be. A dog that has not been trained well, can be a nightmare for its owner! - Dog owners can fall on hard times - People lose jobs--and income. Sometimes, it becomes necessary to seek a home for your dog, because you cannot afford to keep her.
- Dogs get old - Unfortunately, with age, dogs also sometimes get sick and need medical care. If you can’t afford to get the appropriate medical treatment for your dog, but you can’t put her to sleep, you might be looking for a home that can take care of her. Sadly, many people want puppies, but not everyone is willing to take in an older dog. Senior dog rescue adoption is much tougher than puppy rescue adoption!

- Medical conditions - Many people are willing to care for a dog with medical issues, but it’s important that you tell them about your dog’s health problems.
